David was really made for being a teacher. He is enthusiastic, passionate and is using a lot of humor in his classes. He always manages to find topics that are interesting for the whole class and makes sure that everyone participates. The students receive a lot of feedback concerning their learning progress which makes it easy to improve one's skills by avoiding making the same mistakes in the future. Besides his teaching competencies, he always takes his time to listen to his students' problems or fears. In summary, I cannot imagine that there is a better kind of teacher than the one he is.

I can say that he was not only a good teacher, he always taught us about life as well. We really learned something in his lessons. It was never boring and everybody always paid attention. It was really impressive to see his way of teaching because there are teachers who just want you to learn something out of the book, but not him ... he was different. Once I had a drink with an English friend of mine. She was really impressed with my spoken English. And I had to think about my English teacher who always taught us not to think in German and translate it into English. That changed my way of seeing languages in general. He is one of the most inspiring teachers I have ever met. You will not just be able to learn the language, you will be able to gain a different perspective on life. Just take his lessons and you will see.

Herr (Mister in German) Koch has taught me a lot not just about German. I came into this class with thought in mind of taking the class and getting out, and even though I am leaving this class with the same thought, I am leaving a better person. Herr Koch has taught me a lot about myself in an indirect way. He has showed me that it is better to try and fail than to never have tried at all. But if you do fail to laugh and learn from your mistakes. I know it sounds cheesy, but it is the honest truth. Herr Koch is a great teacher with a great deal of knowledge and love for the subject and teaching. I feel blessed for having him as a teacher. I just hope someone else got as much as I did out of it.

Herr Koch is a very down to earth person. I really like his style of teaching because he is funny and makes the class laugh. I actually enjoyed coming to German at 9.30 in the morning. I learned things that I had never learned before in previous German classes. He is a great teacher & I would recommend him to others wanting to take German. Thank you Herr Koch!

Herr Koch made everyday class fun and enjoyable for us all. It was one of few classes in my 4 years at university I actually met people in class and we hung out afterwards because Herr Koch created that friendly environment. There was a lot of work for this class, but that is to be expected of foreign language. I loved it (the class & prof) and highly suggest Herr Koch to my friends.

My personal conclusion is that this course has significantly improved my perception of university life. For the first time have I, due to this course, been able to learn something during my university career that is of genuine use for the profession of a teacher. Further I have to say that this course, taking place in blocks of about 7 hours, was neither tedious nor overcharging. In fact I enjoyed the relaxed and motivating atmosphere. The lecturer’s social skills and qualification have surely added to this fact. Compared to my other courses, this one truly stands out as being of a motivating rather than a tiring nature.

I really liked this seminar! The topic was especially interesting for students who want to become a teacher. The stuff we dealt with was interesting and the way we dealt with it was so, too. It was a complete new way of doing a seminar, but I’m really looking forward for having more seminars with that style! To be honest-there is nothing I would change! I’m sure that I can use the knowledge I acquired during this seminar later in my life.

Mr. Koch is an absolutely humane and flexible teacher who is passionate about the topic of SLA. The students found in him a partner that they could always talk to and were involved thoroughly in the topic through group discussions, which enabled them to share their own experiences and to think critically. The many assignments were demanding and often time-consuming, but this was also justified in the course, as they are supposed to raise the students’ overall performance.
